How to Add a New Domain To cPanel?

When you wish to add a new domain to your Cpanel without actually buying a new host, then that domain is commonly referred to as ‘Addon Domain’. To save a couple of bucks, you can consider adding a domain to your existing host.

This way, you eliminate the need to buy a different host for a new domain. And adding a new domain to your Cpanel is a pretty easy task. But before starting with that, make sure to purchase a new domain. Made sure?

Cool, Now let’s move to the steps to add a new domain to Cpanel.

Steps to Add a New Domain to Cpanel

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Once you have login to cPanel, navigate to the Domain section.
  3. Then click on the ‘Addon Domains’ option.
  4. Here you will see a new page with 3 textboxes opened. You can also notice that ‘no addon domains are configured’ at the bottom.
  5. In the New Domain Name Section, enter you addon domain name that you want to add into your cPanel.
  6. Once you click on the Subdomain field, cPanel automatically fills the other fields.
  7. You must manually change the Subdomain field to add multiple domain names with the same name but different domain TLD extensions, such as test.com and test.net.
  8. Also, enter the directory name manually in the Document Root text box if you want to use a directory other than the automatically provided default.
  9. To create an FTP account for the new addon domain, tick the box labelled “Create an FTP account associated with this Addon Domain. Once you tick this checkbox, additional settings will appear.
  10. cPanel automatically populates the FTP Username text box.
  11. To change the username of your FTP account, type it manually.
  12. Now type the password you want to use in the ‘Password’ text box.
  13. And in the ‘Password (Again)’ text box, type the password again.
  14. The strength bar shows the relative strength of the password you entered.
  15. We recommend using cPanel’s ‘Password Generator’ option to generate a random, strong password for you.
  16. You may also use ‘Advanced Options’ to comply with any organizational password standards, such as minimum password length, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Copy the password into a safe place. Check the box and then press the ‘Use Password’ button.
  17. Click ‘Add Domain’ when you are ready, and your addon domain will be added.
  18. You can now see the added domain by clicking on the ‘Addon Domains’ option again, and it will appear at the bottom of the cPanel screen.

So, it was easy huh?

Follow these steps to add a new domain to your Cpanel easily. Make sure you create a strong password. Also, there can be a slight difference in the Interface, but overall the steps are the same.

Have a Good Day!
